Tinted Windows
Missouri law regulates the location and amount of tint which may be applied to motor vehicle windows. If you have a medical condition which requires additional tinting, you must provide verification of your need from a licensed physician or optometrist.
If you receive a citation for excessive window tint and it is your FIRST OFFENSE, the ticket MAY be dismissed if you do the following PRIOR TO YOUR COURT DATE:
- REMOVE the illegal tint from your windows
- PROVIDE photos showing that the tint has been removed and a copy of your citation to the Nodaway County Prosecutor’s Office
THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE WEEK OF YOUR COURT DATE. OTHERWISE YOU MUST APPEAR IN COURT AS SCHEDULED AND BRING THE INFORMATION WITH YOU AT THAT TIME.
The photos must show:
- the tint has been removed in compliance with Missouri law
- the license plate of the vehicle in at least one of the photographs
You should contact the Nodaway County Circuit Court at (660) 582-5431 prior to your court date to ensure that your information was received and the ticket was dismissed. If the ticket was not dismissed and you fail to appear, the Court may issue a warrant for your arrest.
If you need additional time to secure proof, you should request a continuance from the Nodaway County Circuit Court. Their office is located in the Courthouse, 305 North Main Street, Maryville, Missouri. Their telephone number is (660) 582-5431.
